Aircraft Twirls Uncontrollably into Palm Fronds at Frequented Southern California Beach
An aircraft flying near a well-attended coastal beach abruptly commenced twirling wildly, ultimately losing altitude and plunging into a line of palm groves as beachgoers watched.
Footage posted online depict the helicopter starting to spin above Huntington Beach then descending near the edge of the shore, where it ends up lodged between palm trees and a staircase close to the coastal road.
First Aid Update
The Huntington Beach fire department stated five people were taken to hospital including a pair who were in the helicopter and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” after the incident on the weekend.
Three individuals on the pavement were harmed. Information on their injuries were not immediately available.
The cause of the crash was not yet disclosed.
Planned Function
Authorities said the chopper was associated with an yearly “Cars with Copters” fundraising event set for Sunday.
