Unveiling a Unique Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Turdy Character with the Goal to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have discovered numerous entertaining independent titles. However, one stands out for its unconventional concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired platformer features a character that is actually a dung striving to navigate to a restroom. In case you're wondering, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

The gameplay is easy to grasp: press a one button to leap. Across numerous challenges, you'll face boss fights and access a shop to purchase customizations for your poop character.

Time your actions precisely, as a mistake requires restarting the level. Leap off air pockets to propel your character to new heights, navigate fragile platforms, and touch switches to reveal hidden paths. Earn UN-KOINS to purchase more difficult levels where things ramps up.

In terms of design, the game features eye-catching level designs and catchy music score. The retro visual style with morphing basic polygons could recall players of classic titles like Earthbound.

While it's tough to name previous releases where you control a dung character, interactive entertainment often featured fecal matter. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can create throwables from character droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize feces as plant food. Unsurprisingly, this theme is present heavily in the adventure The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already garnered significant awards, including taking top honors at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. The demo is available currently on Steam, with the full game planned to launch on PC in the fall.
